"Cry not for the Flowers" by Steven Hernandez: Cry not for the flower, though short it's time may be. A sudden burst of life and beauty, shown for all to see. Cry not that after spring their petals die and fall away, withered, brown and barren on the ground where now they lay. For in those finite vibrant sights lies more than what was seen. Not simply lovely smells and honey, nor solely dreamy scenes. Without the rose would be no seed, the whole plant cease to thrive. So, cry not for the flowers, for in them we're alive. We were made to do 3 things… Create, Connect, Inspire! #awesome #instafollow #art #artist #painting #digital #digitalart #artflow #illustration #motivation #inspiration #abstract #abstractart #creative #creativity #creativewriting #growth #flowers #poem #fineart #modernart #createconnectinspire #adventure #book #fashion #cool #design #pixlr #pixlrexpress

"Beauty the Beast" By Steven Hernandez. Beauty: the true beast. Both blessing and bane. Sultry source of fickle fame. It all starts this way at first, without asking, she receives. Surprised at first by all the gifts each willing suitor leaves. Flattered as they fall upon themselves just to serve her. Soon deceived, she starts believing no one could deserve her. She calls down silver platters from the skies of her desires. An angry goddess demanding sacrifices to her pyres. Entitled, everyone must owe her one thing or another. Indignant when denied, she raises hell on her own mother. This beauty tool consumes all other tools that she might find. So easy, so she sees no need to invest in heart or mind. The queen of her hive, her head full honey, appetite fed by her fools and their money. Entranced by a hunger of their own design, they're blind to the truth, no peace they will find. Drunk on praise, on sale for Likes, the nation bends and bows to her. Steadily, surely, the parasitic mask fuses to her identity. As time pays its dividends, returning on its investment, the mask decays. In a panic, she attempts to mend it with thread and filler. Smoothing the wrinkles; lifting the corners; nipping; shaping. Like sand through her fingers, beauty fades, slipping slowly as her grip tightens. The harder she grasps, the more she loses. So much energy spent on a fleeting treasure. Not even the beholder’s eye can save her now. #art #artist #painting #digital #beauty #beast #digitalart #illustration #motivation #inspiration #abstract #abstractart #creative #poem #creativewriting #writing #createconnectinspire #book #fashion #design

To anyone who's ever lost their way, who've fought for love and failed. Who've battled bravely for the day, but still the night prevailed. To those who've borne beyond what they believed that they could bear. Who've gone through hell, but understood they shouldn't stop it there. This one's for you, a call to arms, yet not the killing kind, you see. But arms outstretched to love the ones who call themselves your enemy. When you fall upon hard times, or when hard times fall on you, there are two choices from which to choose–two things that you can do. On one hand, you could harden, turning 50 shades of jade, and hire a stony army all in green to guard your gates. The other option, I prefer, is to pause, just for a time. To ask the Maker which of all these lessons should be mine. To let the fire refine my eyes to clearly see the way. To burn away the broken parts I tripped upon that day. Don't let the hard times make you bitter, abrasive to the taste, but make those hard times work for you, made better by those days. Cherish those people who can recognize when the waters of your mind become turbulent, and the only reflection you can see is a distorted mess of your true self. Cherish those moments when, instead of judging you for having a moment outside yourself, they take you into their arms, challenge you to take a deep breath, and kiss your forehead. Cherish the fact that, as humans, we were made to connect with one another in order to understand how God so loves us. These people are angels sent to remind you of that love. They represent the infinities I hide in all of my paintings. Don't forget to tell these people how much you love them. #awesome #instafollow #art #artist #painting #digital #digitalart #illustration #motivation #inspiration #abstract #abstractart #creative #createconnectinspire #Hawaii #Oahu #adventure #book #fashion #logo #cool #design

I'm happy to say that this trip has turned out better than I could have imagined. Between the incredible relationships, networks, and business partnerships that have formed as a result of my full time effort these past 2 weeks, I now have the fuel I can use to propel this 4ever endeavor of mine to the next level. I will be writing a book called "Memoirs of a Mobile Artist" with the story behind the events leading up to this turning point, the lessons learned, and my vision of the future. I will also be working on a clothing line using my new logo and original art, with the intent of developing a culture based around my 3 core principles: To Create, to Connect, and To Inspire. I'm excited for what the future has in store for this work. With enough voices, even whispers can become a roar that shakes the earth. #awesome #instafollow #art #artist #painting #digital #digitalart #illustration #motivation #inspiration #abstract #abstractart #creative #createconnectinspire #Hawaii #Oahu #adventure #book #fashion #logo #cool #design

In between my time engaging with onlookers today, I had a chance to work on my new logo. In my heart, I believe we were divinely designed to do 3 things: to Create, to Connect, and to Inspire. This logo attempts to encompass that concept into one whole. In the palm of the hand is the base principle, to Create, represented by the shape of a plant sprouting from the hands. Each of us has been gifted with God-given, worthy desires. What we create with those desires is how we truly worship God. Above that is the principle to Connect, represented by the connected infinity symbol. The energy that we create flows into others, which in turn feeds back into us in an endless exchange of life forces. It is also a principle of the gestalt. When people feed living energy into one another freely, the resulting energy is greater than the sum of its constituents. Above the infinity symbol is the principle to Inspire, represented by the flame. This principle is to become a light in the darkness, allowing others to find their way simply through our way of being. By exercising truly unselfish love by way of our words and actions, we can change the world one heart at a time. When enough voices join together, even whispers can become a roar that shakes the earth.
